About

The Racing 40 All Black is housed in a 40 mm matte black PVD-coated 316L stainless-steel case and powered by a mechanical-quartz chronograph movement (caliber VK64). A polished black bezel with an engraved tachymeter scale frames a dual-layer dial in two shades of black. The subdials feature an embossed concentric pattern, displaying stopwatch minutes at 9 o’clock and a 24-hour indicator at 3 o’clock. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The design is completed by a matte black leather strap with a matching PVD buckle.

The Racing 40 All Black is a monochrome, modern take on the classic racing chronograph. Tactical in character, it plays with different black finishes and matte textures—something you wouldn’t have seen in the era the design comes from, but which feels completely natural today.

The Racing 40 is our reimagined take on classic racing chronographs from the 1960s, and the All Black is part of the core collection—one of the very first designs we made.

CASE

A slim 12 mm profile ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist. The 40 mm matte black PVD case is crafted from durable 316L stainless steel and fitted with a screw-down crown, while a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial. Carefully selected materials emphasize practicality and long-term resilience.

DIAL

The dual-layer dial features contrasting black finishes. The subdials are defined by an embossed concentric pattern and display stopwatch minutes at 9 o’clock and a 24-hour indicator at 3 o’clock. Polished black hands contrast against the matte surface for improved clarity while reinforcing the monochrome aesthetic of the design.

MOVEMENT

The Racing 40 All Black is powered by a mechanical-quartz chronograph movement, caliber VK64, combining Japanese quartz accuracy with a mechanical chronograph module. The result is a smooth sweeping stopwatch seconds hand (5 beats per second) and an instant reset with mechanical-feedback pushers, delivering the feel of a mechanical chronograph with the reliability of quartz.
